How to Help with Prairie Appreciation Day
Volunteer
Volunteers are particularly needed for the day of the event (May 3rd).  Activities include
assisting at the informational and educational areas, helping direct parking, setting up and
tearing down, and general gofer duties.  If you have the time, we'll find a match for your skills!
We are particularly in need of people to help out at the informational areas.  We have a core of
knowledgeable people who will be at each station, but they will need reliefs and occasional
assistance.

Additionally, volunteers are always needed on the second Saturday of each month [10:00 to 3:00]
at the prairie restoration work parties sponsored by the Washington Chapter of The Nature
Conservancy.  Please send an email to
Carri Marschner, Mima Prairie Land Steward.

If you wish to volunteer for Prairie Appreciation Day we would like at least a 1/2 day commitment.

Special Announcement
Thanks to the tremendous efforts of the South Sound Volunteer Seed Collection and Plant
Propagation Team, there is a surplus of native prairie plants and seeds from The Nature
Conservancy's nursery at nearby Shotwell's Landing.  They are donating 1500 plants and an as
yet unknown number of packets of mixed native prairie seeds.  These will be sold at the event on
a first come, first served basis.
We will also be raffling a genuine Weed Wrench and a large framed print of a Western Bluebird
from the gallery of James T. Jones
.  So bring a buck or two and take a chance on winning an
essential tool of prairie restoration
or a very beautiful picture.
